jp to be in cork on 10-06-2005
And now for a little Jimmy-watching news for the express purpose of keeping me happy.
Legendary rocker to open Cathedral exhibition:
ROCK LEGEND Jimmy Page confirmed last night that he will be in Cork to launch a celebration of the work of the architect who designed the city’s landmark St Fin Barre’s Cathedral.
Mr Page OBE, the former Led Zeppelin guitarist, is a huge fan of English architect William Burges.
The Cathedral is regarded as Burges’s first masterpiece.
More
here.
Thick American that I am, I'd never heard of William Burges until I stumbled upon a report in TBL about JP's keen interest in the man; see
this post.
I finally tracked down and ordered
a copy of the book some months ago and was enchanted with the whimsical work of Mr. Burges; it's pretty easy to see why Jimmy would be an avid collector.
And in more JP-related news, as mentioned in
Ross Halfin's Diary earlier today, he accompanied JP, Barry Drinkwater and Peter Makowski to the Classic Rock Awards this evening; AP captured my coveted JP image for the day:

both news items and wikipedia entry found via
Midnight Moonlight an absolutely awesome Japanese-based Jimmy Page Fanclub!
They are really on top of stuff there. Just wish I could read Japanese. ;-)
