what it's like for a girl

This story is heartbreaking enough because the young girl in question already narrowly missed losing her own life while witnessing the loss of her family. But as you read more of the story, it really brings home the added vulnerabilities of being a poor young woman in a deeply patriarchal culture and at the mercy of the local society's judgments and opinions.

This and a thousand other similar stories are being played out right now in the aftermath of this horrific event and it is just heartbreaking. Thousands of vulnerable children and young women are being exploited ~ its just hideously unbelievable.
